SPREAD About the Project

SPREAD infographic available: Understanding Sustainable Lifestyles in the EU. Today’s Facts & Tomorrow’s Trends

Thursday, 2012-04-12

On the basis of the SPREAD baseline report and some additional research, an infographic has been created as a visual tool for understanding sustainable lifestyles in Europe. It highlights the connections between EU lifestyle impacts, behaviour drivers, infrastructure enablers and promising practices.

EU lifestyle impacts include information about unsustainable trends such as:

-        obesity, heart disease, cancer

-        average house / apartment size & household energy use

-        more stuff, more waste

-        single care use and air travel

-        air travel and hotel

-        consumption of meat, dairy and junk food

Behaviour drivers refer to needs, desires, motivators, triggers and conflicts.

Infastructure enablers include policy, cities, communities, technology and access.

Promising practices highlight examples from social innovation, new business models, citizen movements and policy.
