SPREAD Conference

Catalyzing Action: EU Sustainable Lifestyles Roadmap & Action Plan to 2050 - November 26/27, Brussels

Join us for this 2-day highly interactive conference where we will present for the first time, the EU Sustainable Lifestyles Roadmap and Action Plan to 2050. The roadmap, the final outcome of the SPREAD Sustainable Lifestyles 2050 European Social Platform project, outlines opportunity spaces (for policy, business, innovation, design, civil society, citizens, and research) to foster, enable and accelerate more sustainable living practices across Europe which are critical to achieving Europe’s 2020 strategy.  The SPREAD project has defined Sustainable Lifestyles at 8 000 kg of material footprint.  It has developed scenarios of four possible futures and pathways to reach the societies that support 8 000 kg sustainable lifestyles.  It has identified current trends and promising practice of more sustainable ways living already being revealed today!

Participants will:

  • Interact with 8 000 kg sustainable lifestyles, and measure their own lifestyle material footprint

  • Experience Scenarios for Sustainable Lifestyles 2050 come to life:  From Local Loops to Global Champions

  • Meet business entrepreneurs, organisers of social movements and eco-villages, designers and product innovators who are demonstrating that more sustainable ways of living are possible, and already in practice today

  • Participate in action planning and match-making round-tables which seek to activate the EU Sustainable Lifestyles Roadmap starting in 2013

This conference is focused on actions for more sustainable living across Europe.  It presents a unique opportunity for policy-makers, business, innovators, designers, civil society, citizens, and researchers to accelerate current work and activate new ideas within the Sustainable Lifestyles Roadmap Framework.
